Service Description

Transform your cherished t-shirts into memories of a functional t-shirt blanket. This consultation will help you curate shirts, and select backing fabrics to create a budget friendly, and quick design that preserves your favorite moments in every stitch. These blankets are very comparable to Project Repats blankets. What to expect at the CONSULTATION? *Discussing of t-shirt inventory, design, estimated costs, backing fabric etc. The consult will approximately take 30-45 minutes. *Please wash and dry all t-shirts. Do NOT cut the t-shirts. :) *Location: Raleigh NC. Once the consultation is schedule, I will send a follow email with the exact location DESIGN: Checkered style (no borders) is the only design offered for T-shirt blankets. SIZE: Memento, Throw, Twin, Double, Queen are the only sizes offered for T-shirt blankets. BACKING Fabric: I offer only black, gray and blue backing fabric that I have on hand in the studio. Sadly, custom backing fabric is not available for this product. THE CONSTRUCTION The "Blocks": Each shirt is cut into a square or rectangle, usually focusing on the logo or graphic. Interfacing: Since T-shirt fabric (jersey knit) is stretchy, a thin layer of non-stretch fabric called "interfacing" is ironed onto the back of each piece. This keeps the blanket from warping or pulling out of shape. The Backing: The back is typically made of a cotton blend fabric. What are the main DIFFERENCES between a blanket and a quilt? 1. There is NO batting (soft layer) between the top and the bottom 2. No quilting (stitching on the top design), the blanket is secured in the vertical seams. 3. More "budget-friendly" option 4. Less wait time than the quilt. TIME FRAME: These are easily made from June to October and January to March. SCHEDULING: T-shirt Blanket Consultations can be scheduled at any time of the year.
