Service Description

Professional guidance to transform sentimental clothing into a lasting keepsake quilt. I will help you select meaningful textiles, design a balanced layout, and choose quality finished fabrics to ensure your collection of memories becomes a beautiful, durable heirloom quilt. CONSULTATION Time frame: 30-45 minutes for one quilt & 45+ for multiple quilts. Cost: Fee (deposit) is $85.00. What to Bring: Clothing and items to be in the quilt. Please pre-wash all items and do NOT cut the t-shirts. :) What to Expect: Discuss size, design (patterns), fabric choices, estimated costs, etc. When: 3 months BEFORE the completion time. Location will be sent via email once the appointment has been confirmed. CONSTRUCTION "Blocks": Each shirt is cut into a square or rectangle, usually focusing on the logo or graphic. Interfacing: Since T-shirt fabric (jersey knit) is stretchy, a thin layer of non-stretch fabric called "interfacing" is ironed onto the back of each piece. This keeps the blanket from warping or pulling out of shape. Batting: Batting provides essential loft and insulation, creating a plush, tactile texture while enhancing the quilt’s overall durability and warmth. Backing: The is typically made of a cotton blend fabric. I have on hand three colors of backing fabric: black, gray and blue that are included in the pricing of the quilt. I also offer custom backing fabric that can be picked at the consultation. What are the main DIFFERENCES between a blanket and a quilt? 1. There is batting (soft layer) between the top and the bottom for softness. 2. Quilting (stitching on the top design) to secure the layers better. 3. Last a lifetime (10+ years) 4. Higher quality overall for keep-saking the memories. COSTS: Consultation fee/deposit does NOT cover the costs of the quilt.
